COPYRIGHT TRANSFER AGREEMENT


Thank you for submitting your Manuscript for publication in the Journal of Taiji Science (JTS). In order to publish your submission, it is required to sign our standard Copyright Transfer Agreement, that transfers to us the necessary rights to publish your work during the time the work is under copyright protection. As is normal, the publication of an author’s Manuscript cannot proceed until we have received a signed copy of this Agreement. 

If your work, which is identified here as The Manuscript, is not accepted for publication, or if The Manuscript is subsequently rejected, this Copyright Transfer Agreement shall become null and void. For the purpose of this agreement the author’s “Manuscript” (alternatively known as The Manuscript) means the author(s) submitted work including any embedded media that has been submitted for publication in the Journal. 

A. COPYRIGHT 

1. All authors confirm as part of this agreement that there are no other known authors, and they own all relevant rights to all the work contained in The Manuscript.

2. By signing this agreement, all authors will transfer all necessary rights to JTS to permit JTS to publish their work for commercial purposes, and when required to re-use all supplied image that are contained in The Manuscript. This right to re-use images may involve the sale of the authors images, photos, sound recordings and any supplied text to other third parties; and the modification of the author’s supplied images, photos, sound recordings and supplied text.

3. In addition, it is agreed that any supplied copyrightable material can be used by JTS to create cover pages for the JTS journal, and/or to create video media. The use of the author’s images photos, sound recordings and any supplied text for advertising purposes may also be used on merchandise and other products in any manner that JTS deems necessary to advertise either JTS, or the author’s work to a wider audience. The author(s) also agree that this agreement permits JTS to translate the author(s) submitted work to other languages.

4. If the author’s Manuscript is accepted for publication, the author(s) assigns to the Journal of Taiji Science (JTS), and any company that subsequently owns the Journal, all rights to publish, republish, transmit, sell, distribute and use the author’s Manuscript in whole or in part in electronic and print editions of the Journal and in any derivative works throughout the world, in all languages and in all media of expression now known or later developed, and to license or permit others to do so, for the full term of the copyright, and during any and all periods generated by any extensions or renewals of the copyright. 

5. After publication, any reproduction, posting, or transmission, or any other distribution of the Accepted Manuscript, either in whole or in part, will require the author(s) to include a citation that points to the Journal of Taiji Science, where the citation follows the format Title of Article, the author(s) name(s), The Journal of Taiji Science, Volume/Issue, year, and page number in the event the reference is to a print copy of the author’s paper. A direct links to the final article is encouraged to aid dissemination of the author’s work, whenever possible. 

B. RETAINED RIGHTS 

Where applicable, the Author(s), and/or the author’s employer, will retain all copyright, and patent rights, in any process, or inventive idea that is described in The Manuscript. 

C. USES BY THE CONTRIBUTOR 

1. As part of this agreement, the author(s) of the version of The Manuscript accepted for publication has the right to self-archive the Manuscript on the author’s personal website; to make reprints; and to transmit, print and share copies of The Manuscript with colleagues.

2. There is no restrictions for the reuse of any images or text for direct commercial purposes by the author(s).

3. The author retain the right to re-use any part of The Submission for oral and scientific presentations. 

D. COPYRIGHT OWNED BY EMPLOYERS

If any part of the author(s) work was written by the author as part of their regular employment and their work is owned by their employer under “work-made-for-hire”, or any other mechanism that makes the copyright the property of the employer, the author’s company/institution must also execute this Agreement, in addition to the Contributor’s signature(s) 

By signing this agreement, the company/institution hereby agrees to all the terms of use set forth above.

E. Copyright Ownership Statement

The Contributor represents that: (i) all participating authors and co-authors are included in this agreement;  (ii) the author and all co-authors and any mentioned employers have the necessary power, authority and/or capability to enter into this Agreement; (iii) neither the Author nor any co-Author has transferred their exclusive rights to, or their copyright in any part of the work to a third party; (iv) the Manuscript is the Author’s original work; (v) if any co-author is unable to sign (for reason of infirmity, incapability, death, or it has proven impossible to communicate with the co-author), the remaing co-authors have obtained the necessary authority to sign in his absence; (vi) the Manuscript has been submitted only to this Journal and the submitted Manuscript has never been published before, nor has not been included as part of in another manuscript, and it has not been submitted to any other journal for publication; (vii) if any copyrighted works from a third party is included in the submitted article the authors certify here that the authors have obtained all necessary  written permission from the copyright owners for JTS to publish and re-use such material, for all uses set forth in this agreement, and they have entered in The Manuscript all necessary credit to the original copyright owners and/or sources; (viii) the author(s) confirm that the Manuscript and any submitted Supporting Information contain no libelous or unlawful statements, and The Manuscript does not infringe upon the rights (including without limitation the copyright, patent or trademark rights) or the privacy of others, and this submitted Manuscript does not breach any confidentiality obligation, nor does it violate a contract or any law, and it does not contain any material or instructions that could result in harm or injury if someone was to act upon the information contained within the Manuscript, and The Manuscript only contains data that has been obtained in accordance with applicable legal requirements and Journal policies; and (ix) there are no conflicts of interest relating to the Manuscript, except those disclosed. 

The Author(s) also confirm that the following information has been clearly identified within the Manuscript: (1) all financial and material support for the research and work; (2) any financial interests the Contributor or any co-Contributors may have in companies or other entities that have an interest in the information in the Manuscript or any submitted Supporting Information (e.g., grants, advisory boards, employment, consultancies, contracts, honoraria, royalties, expert testimony, partnerships, or stock ownership); and (3) indication of no such financial interests if appropriate.
