ABOUT

This Forum was hosted by the Taiji Science Federation (WTJSF), co-hosted by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Hangzhou Normal University and World Taijiquan Website; The Five Branch University, American Association of Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture (AACMA), US Collegiate Taiji Federation, US Chinese Women Cultural Organization, California University Silicon Valley, Senior Sports Magazine of China, Wuhun-Taiji Magazine of China participated in the support-organizations; scheduled for December 2021 from 4th to 5th, it will be held simultaneously globally through the online platform. The opening ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, December 4, 2021, 8:00am-8:40am, Beijing time. The purpose of the activity: “Science as the guide; culture as the link; on a global scale, practice Taiji together and share health!”

Taijiquan is a treasure of Chinese traditional culture. Its core concept of yin and yang dialectics and harmony between man and nature is the summation of the experience and wisdom of the development of human society for thousands of years. It has been favored by the world because of its practical effects in fitness and health. In recent years, there have been practicing groups of hundreds of millions of people in five continents, 200 countries, and they have used Taiji, a unique form of exercise, to absorb the nourishment of traditional culture and improve physical and mental health. On December 17, 2020, UNESCO officially listed Taijiquan as a world intangible cultural heritage. On January 8, 2021, the International Olympic Committee also officially approved that Chinese Wushu (including Taiji fan) will become the official event of the 4th Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2026. This will provide a new opportunity for the global development of Tai Chi.

Internationalization:

The first International Taiji Science Online Forum and the World Taiji Intangible Cultural Heritage Taiji Masters Online exhibition Online Exhibition attracted: China, the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, Bulgaria, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Singapore Nearly one hundred experts, scholars and inheritors of Taiji intangible cultural heritage Grandmaster and Masters from 32 well-known universities in 20 countries and regions including Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Macau, and Taiwan participated the largest internationalized Taiji Science Forum.

Among them, the University of Illinois, Stanford University, California University of Chinese Medicine, International Medical University, Cologne University of Physical Education, Germany, Hangzhou Normal University, Inner Mongolia Normal University, Zhejiang University of Technology, Harbin Sports University, Shandong Sports University, and other universities are academicians, The dean personally participated in the Forum as Keynote speakers. Inheritors of and professional fields are equally authoritative. Not only are the main Taiji ancestor and world champions personally performing, but there are also five “9 Duan” (the highest level of Chinese Martial Arts”) Wushu Taiji and Health Qigong Grandmasters Chen Zhenglei, Zhu Tiancai, Li Deyin, Yu Dinghai, and Shi Aiqiao also participated.

Build an international scientific exchange platform:

Science Forum successfully established an inter-university and faculty exchange platform between international universities, strengthened the academic and scientific research interaction between Chinese and foreign experts and academic leaders, and facilitated the transformation of production, learning, research, and achievements between Chinese and American universities Several cooperation projects in the field have been gradually launched and implemented. At the same time, the organizer also liaises with international academic authorities, subject leaders, and editors-in-chief of core journals to provide academic, scientific research, activity exchanges, and industrial incubation project construction, design, guidance and assistance for participating universities and individuals.

Initiate “World Taiji Science Day”:
with science as the theme: every year, Taiji scientific elites gather to further research, collect, and explore the health value of Taiji, explore and improve the scientific and systematic nature of traditional health methods, and point to the development direction of Taiji health in the world.

To commemorate “World Taiji Intangible Heritage Day”:
with culture as a link: at this time of each year, different regions, countries, and nationalities all over the world practice Taiji together to celebrate that Taiji is officially included in the United Nations World Intangible Cultural Heritage List. Experience the essence of Chinese Taiji culture together. By practicing Taiji at the same time, we can achieve harmony, enhance friendship, and share health.
